Mary Aranas
MARY ARANAS discovered Yoga after the birth of her son in 1995, a double gift. When she lost her own mom to cancer in 2001, Mary vowed to turn her love of Yoga into a healing path for herself and others. Her background includes dance, cycling, martial arts, and, in 2002, 500-hour Certification in Ishta Yoga (The Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda) with Alan Finger. Ishta is an eclectic lineage drawing from major traditions, incorporating practices ranging from meditation and restorative yoga to vigorous vinyasa, with emphasis on the needs of the Individual.
Mary has taught Yoga full-time since 2002, extensively in private practice and in group classes, workshops, and retreats. Her classes range from meditation and restorative, to beginner, prenatal, senior, and vigorous vinyasa and AcroYoga®. Mary is one of 125 AcroYoga® certified teachers in the world, a practice combining Yoga Acrobatics, and Thai Massage. In all her teaching, Mary infuses yogic themes such as the Chakras and the Sutras, seeking always to awaken the divine core of love, beauty and strength in her students. Mary lives in NYC with her husband Raul and son Raphael, and is also an actress and a lay healing prayer minister.
