The beginning of the year can be a rough time for me. I’m still recovering from holiday travel and overindulgence, my skin and hair have fully succumbed to winter dryness, and I’m in need of some serious me time. But last week, Birchbox sent me a Fresh Start box to try out, and things felt hopeful again. Stocked with products to motivate, it gave me the tools for self-care that I’d been craving.
The first thing I did when I opened the box was take a much-needed relaxing bath with the organic Mullein & Sparrow Pink Himalayan bath Salts. Next, my extra dry skin spots were remedied by the Fig + Yarrow Healing Salve, and my brittle hair became soft and smooth again thanks to the Yarok Feed Your Ends Leave In-Conditioner. Finally, the perfect pink hue of the Vapour Organic Beauty Aura Multi-Use Blush gave my sun-deprived winter skin a warm summer glow. Other standouts included the Ilia Lip Gloss in The Butterfly & I, which provides a lovely natural sheen, and the extra-hydrating Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Hand Cream.
Best of all, pretty much everything in this box was made from ultra-pure and non-toxic ingredients. I am a stickler when it comes to the quality of ingredients in everything from food to beauty products to plasticware. Needless to say I was really happy as I scanned the labels of every product, including the BPA-free KOR AURA water bottle.
I loved the Fresh Start box, and for $42 it’s a steal!
