In my daily practice of sitting with myself and the energy inside my heart space, I remind myself that LOVE is the greatest healer. It connects us to our higher selves and when we feel love inside we are able to generate it back out into the world.
Whether or not you’re single, married or searching, here are a few ways to use essential oils to relax and foster a deep sense of grounding, love and compassion.
- Love Mist: Fill a 2oz glass mister bottle with distilled water leaving a little room at the top. Add 5 drops of Rose Absolute oil, 10 drops of Lavender and 10 drops of Palmarosa. Shake gently before use. I like to mist onto couches, pillows and sheets. Feel free to add a few drops of Ylang Ylang too for a variation – very aromatic. You can double or cut this recipe in half depending on what kind of bottle you have, or play around with different strengths.
- Sensual Massage Oil: In a 1 oz glass bottle put 20 drops Sandalwood, 15 drops Rose oil, 5 drops Vanilla and 5 drops Vetiver. Fill with jojoba or grapeseed oil – two very good carrier oils to use that don’t stain. This is perfect for an all over body massage oil, after soaking in a warm bath or just on the soles of the feet.
- Romantic Room: Essential oils can be beautifully and naturally dispersed throughout a room ridding the air of impurities and lifting your mood using an electric or candlelit diffuser. Simply fill your diffuser bowl with a little distilled warm or room temperature water (usually 1/4 – 1/2 cup). Add 10 drops Rose Absolute, 20 drops Palmarosa, 5 drops Ylang Ylang and 5 drops of Sweet Orange or Bergamot.
My preferred place to order oils and supplies, such as a diffuser, is Mountain Rose Herbs. One of the reasons I like them so much (aside from their terrific prices and exceptional quality), is that they’re predominately organic and support fair trade. You can also check your local health food store for essential oils and diffusers, and Etsy for a selection of beautiful handmade ceramic diffusers.
