Prenatal Teacher Training
by Lily Dwyer Begg
85 Hour Yoga Alliance Registered Prenatal Teacher Training with Lily Dwyer Begg
Location: Fells Point and Midtown
Fri Sat Sun
Friday 7:30-10:30pm YogaWorks Fells Point
$1,050 by July 24th, 2017, $1,250 thereafter.
Join renowned yoga teacher Lily Dwyer Begg for four weekends of intensive study during which you will gain real skills and confidence to support women during pregnancy. Learn to empower women to call on the ancient mind/body wisdom of yoga to feel stronger, steadier, and more sensual during this transformative period, and to embrace the fullness of their growing bodies, hearts and souls!
This course will ask you to look within - examining your own birth story and reflecting on personal and cultural attitudes around birth and pregnancy while also imagining yourself with a pregnant body to bring light to the teachings. The foundation of your success as a teacher will revolve around your self-inquiry and experiential participation in everything we do and learn. You do not need to be a woman or have been pregnant before to succeed in the Training.
You will develop a heightened compassion for pregnant women, mothers, and babies. You will learn the sacred art of holding space to enable you to work with a range of different types of pregnant women while honoring each student’s diverse perspective and mind-body experience surrounding pregnancy and birth.
This program aims to:
Together we enter into the humbling and transformational realm of deep self-inquiry, radical self-acceptance and compassion for all beings, while also entering into the space of committed study and intellectual growth. You are a welcome friend in this sacred learning space.
Trainees are required to attend one prenatal yoga class a week with Lily or participate in Lily's online Prenatal class if they are unable to attend the weekly class.
Though she has had a committed practice since 2000, Lily Dwyer Begg’s most profound, direct, earthy, transcendent, and soul-altering experience of yoga in her lifetime was giving birth to her son Blaise in 2013. Lily has taught yoga since 2005 in Berkeley, CA; Berlin, Germany; and Baltimore, Maryland. Her work has brought her to work with hundreds of pregnant and postpartum mothers, in yoga studios internationally, with an NBA basketball team, an NCAA diving team, and to homeless women and children. Lily studied with Shiva Rea, Ana Forrest, Don and Amba Stapleton, David Moreno, yoga for scoliosis with Elise Browning Miller, Ayurveda with Kameko Shibata, Prenatal yoga with Marisa Toriggino, and Yoga for the Female Pelvic Floor with Leslie Howard. She is a California licensed massage therapist and has studied anatomy with Art Riggs, Thomas Myers, and Narelle Carter-Quinlan. Lily grew up in the dance studio, has studied ballet and modern dance her whole life, and prior to moving to Baltimore, she worked as a professional modern dancer with the San Francisco troupe, LEVYdance and as a freelancer in Berlin, Germany. She currently makes her home in Baltimore with her husband, Aaron and son, Blaise where she is the director of the YogaWorks Baltimore Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training. Her approach to Prenatal Yoga is a signature balance of precise alignment based posture, slow flow, uplifting community building, and humble acknowledgement of the sacred inner strength, boundless love, and liberated consciousness within all mothers every step of their own motherhood journey no matter what shape it takes.
