I am inspired by nature, namely the ocean. I love to "cross-pollinate" and study with a lot of teachers and a lot of other techniques and crafts like dance, massage, structural integration, body-mind psychotherapy, and meditation. "Yoga is 99% practice and 1% theory," said Pattabhi Jois. Keep practicing!
Why I Practice
I practice to take care of myself so I can take care of and be present for my students and loved ones. I've been practicing for over ten years and dancing my whole life, and at first I practiced for the athleticism of Ashtanga yoga. That's what I needed to wholeheartedly make the commitment to a lifelong journey of yoga practice, and I've never looked back. After a severe head injury, I practiced for presence and stillness. Practice changes and evolves -- if you allow it to, you will experience amazing things.
Why I Teach
I was inspired to teach after I used my yoga practice as a tool to heal from severe injuries years ago. I couldn't not share the profound benefits I had opened myself up to. Experienced yogis enjoy the integration of creative sequencing with breathwork, detailed instruction, and meditation found in my classes. Beginner yogis appreciate the clarity, trust, and gentle encouragement I offer. I have students of all levels and walks of life, and every class is different. I teach and hold space for students to open up to an intelligence and wisdom that guides us to be more connected to others and more open to profound peace and joy. What we create on the mat ultimately shows up in every aspect of our lives.
