My students are my major source of inspiration. I am inspired by their willingness to learn, their dedication to their practice, their generosity and growing ability to focus, absorb, and open up, and for that I am forever grateful. I also am tremendously inspired by the gifted teachers with whom I have had the honor of training and practicing. I am amazed by their vast knowledge of the teachings of yoga -- from anatomy and alignment to breath work, meditation, and yoga philosophy -- and their ability to share their experience with me and others. What a wonderful endless journey!
Why I Practice
As a former dancer, I am passionate about my yoga practice and its inherent benefits of increased strength, flexibility, and balance, both on and off the mat. But more importantly, I practice yoga for the focus and clarity that I continue to develop, helping me to become more aware of myself and in tune with those around me.
Why I Teach
I love sharing my passion for yoga with others -- challenging them to slow down, be mindful of their bodies and breath -- and to truly let go. In my yoga teaching I strive to encourage, lead, and empower students to connect with the person on their mat, creating an increased self-awareness and sense of clarity. Also, when I teach, I become totally absorbed and focused on the practice and my students, perhaps even more than when I am on my own mat.
