Why Yoga Is Now
/When I was asked by YogaWorks to share my interpretation of the first thread of the rich tapestry of ‘The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali’, I was reminded of the fullness within this short introductory phrase. Sutra 1:1, ATHA YOGANUSASANAM translates to ‘Now is the exposition of Yoga’, Atha meaning ‘Now’, and anusasanam referring to the exposition or instruction. Here Patanjali instructs the reader, the student, the disciple to remain alert as we embark on the journey through deeper dimensions of Yoga.
“The past is history, the future is a mystery”… yoga is now. It is the very moment I choose to be present with my breath and my body and the connection between the two. To hop off the spinning wheel of thoughts, duties, distractions, attachments and get still…spacious…observe & listen. It is the clearing of the residue, the melting of the resistance which allows me to reside in my wholeness. It is simple yet challenging at times. It is an auspicious invitation into the present.
It is my homecoming. It is here, it is now, it is timeless.

Hello. I practice yoga ,am considering teacher training classes for myself. I would love to share these with my daughter ( and son-in-law ) and my daughter -n-law ( and son ). My daughter in law is pregnant, second trimester. I would love her to learn to use yoga on a continuing basis, but something she could do now, safely would be wonderful. How do I go about ordering such?
yours truly, Linda Crowley
