Happy Belly Green Juice

No matter how hard I try to practice moderation on Thanksgiving, I almost always overindulge – the food is just too good! Then Friday morning rolls around and I inevitably regret my decisions. Though nothing can completely erase the aftermath of eating and drinking too much, there are two things that always help make me feel better: detoxifying yoga and green juice.

I call this juice “Happy Belly” because it’s super alkalizing and loaded with ingredients that are known to soothe the stomach and aid digestion. I like to make it for breakfast so that it’s the first thing I put into my body after a night of “too much”. It makes me feel better, and sets the tone for the rest of my food choices that day.

1 bulb of fennel, cut into chunks
4-5 leaves of kale (or 1 handful of spinach)
1 apple, cored and cut into chunks
2 stalks of celery, cut into chunks
1/2 medium-sized cucumber, cut into chunks
1/2 lemon, peeled
1 inch ginger
*Be sure to thoroughly wash your fruits and veggies!

Run all ingredients through your juicer. When juicing greens, it’s helpful to sandwich them between pieces of apple or cucumber in order to get the most out of them. Pour into a glass and sip slowly. Enjoy!
