About the studio

Just outside of Los Angeles, the coastal area spanning Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Hermosa Beach, El Segundo is a true beach community with an endless bike path along the ocean, beach volleyball and surfing. Our studio is located at The Edge in Plaza El Segundo where you’ll find many options just outside our door to stroll, shop or grab some tea or meet friends for a post-yoga bite of health or vegetarian food.

Our green minded space has high ceilings with Tectum ceiling panels and eco-friendly bamboo flooring. Floor to ceiling windows flood the studio with natural sunlight and solar tubes minimize the use of electrical lighting during the day. All of the drinking fountains, showers and faucets use filtered soft water. We have a soothing fountain wall and several areas with cozy couches, giving the studio the feel of a sanctuary. Our locker rooms are outfitted with beautiful green recycled glass tile and we provide soaps, towels for rent and hair driers to make it easy to start your morning (or anytime of the day) with us.

A variety of students come to practice at our South Bay studio including high school and college students, mothers, fathers, executives, law enforcement personnel, educators, and athletes. In our three large yoga rooms we offer mindful fitness classes like BarWorks®, SculptWorks®, TRX®, Baby & Me, and Gentle Yoga, just to name a few options.

Trauma-Informed Yoga Fundamentals by Hala Khouri + Kyra Haglund Trauma-Informed Yoga Fundamentals, offered by Hala Khouri & Kyra Haglund of Collective Resilience Yoga, is a combination of its Module 1 (Trauma-Informed Yoga Basics) & Module 2 (Yoga & Social Justice) trainings. The first half of this 40-hour training provides an integrative and physiological framework for understanding the relationship between trauma & chronic stress and the mind/body. It focuses on yoga, mindfulness, somatic practices, and meditation (along with relevant theory and tools) to help reduce reduce trauma symptoms, cultivate a greater sense of well-being, and support the reclamation of safety and empowerment in the body. The second half of this training provides a deep dive into how trauma and structural violence impacts us on the individual, institutional, and systemic levels, as well as how trauma-informed yoga teaching can help pave the way for more resilience, transformation, and equity in our communities. Through a sociopolitical framework, we explore power, privilege, marginalization, oppression, and social justice issues like poverty, racism, sexism, and homophobia. Unpacking and reflecting on our own individual locations in these systems is vital for any space holder to do in order to truly serve others and cultivate healing for all.
