Yoga Therapy Program

Yoga Yoga’s accredited Yoga Therapy program includes the following:

Module 1: Yoga Therapy in Practice
Module 2: A Career in Yoga Therapy

Practicum & Mentorship is completed concurrent to Module 2 and includes supervised yoga session delivery, mentored yoga therapy specialization and a final project.

Students are awarded a C-IAYT by the International Association of Yoga Therapists upon satisfactory completion of all 3 units: Module 1, Module 2, the Practicum & Mentorship.

Completion of Module 1 satisfies the requirements to become a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.

About the Training:

Module 1: Yoga Therapy in Practice

Yoga Therapy in Practice introduces the basic skills needed for client intake, observation and assessment, as well as practical, effective tools for addressing specific aspects of the body, mind and spirit. This module uses an integrative approach to assess a client’s current system, analyze findings, build yoga therapy tools to bring a system into balance, strategize in developing a therapeutic plan that meets a client’s needs and build the therapeutic relationship that best coaches success. Through lecture & discussion, hands-on workshops, and personal practice integration, you will learn:
  • Yoga philosophy as a model for the application of yoga therapy
  • Advanced Western and yogic anatomy
  • Principles of subtle anatomy, Ayurveda, and the nature of the mind
  • Skills and methods for interviewing and assessing clients
  • How to evaluate and support a client’s needs in the context of the yoga therapy
  • How to construct and deliver a yoga therapy session
  • Medical aspects of common diagnoses, treatments, contraindications and redflags
  • Therapeutic yoga techniques ranging from the gross to subtle
  • How to apply pranayama, meditation, and relaxation to affect your client’s physical, mental and emotional well-being
  • How to effectively communicate with students based on their learning style, in both individual and group settings
  • The science of behavior change and application of yoga techniques towards a client’s health and wellness goals
  • The foundational principles of nutrition


Module 2 and Internship

In Module 2, you will refine your skills and apply them to more complex health challenges. This module covers the following content:

  • Philosophical evolution of yoga and applying advanced principles of yoga philosophy
  • Yoga wisdom as the basis for client assessment, planning, and delivery of yoga therapy
  • Complex case assessment, analysis and skills refinement
  • Adaptation and progression of therapeutic asana; techniques and skills
  • Pranayama, meditation, relaxation and mindfulness skills development and practice integration
  • Medical aspects of and yoga therapy tools for chronic illnesses and lifestyle diseases; such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis,cardiopulmonary diseases, and diabetes
  • Neurological conditions, functional capacities and the advanced yoga therapeutics
  • Chronic pain including back pain, fibromyalgia, and peripheral neuropathy; comorbid substance use disorder and advanced yoga therapy application
  • Yoga therapy for cancer patients in treatment and recovery
  • Psycho-emotional aspects of physical conditions, and their impact on the yoga therapy process
  • Pelvic floor disorders and supporting pelvic floor health through specific yoga therapy techniques
  • Fascial health, structural balance and core centered movement principles
  • Trauma sensitive approach to yoga therapy
  • Individualized yoga therapy to support addiction recovery and relapse
  • Advanced Ayurvedic lifestyle approaches to health and wellness
  • Ethical principles, client centered approach to yoga therapy, and working with diverse populations
  • The science of lifestyle behavior change and coaching client success
  • Yoga in healthcare and directions in research
  • The business of yoga therapy

Module 1 meets approximately 1 weekend per month

Tuition

Module 1: $5,595

  • Required Deposit: $895
  • Discounted registration deadline: Enroll by September 10th, 2018 and receive $1000 off total Module 1 tuition
  • Early registration deadline: Enroll by November 10th, 2018 and receive $500 off total Module 1 tuition
  • Payment plans are available for a 10% fee. This option gives you the option to make equal monthly payments, starting on the date you enroll. An $895 deposit is required.
  • Student discount: Students paying in-full will receive a 10% discount.

Full Program (Module 1, Module 2 and the Practicum & Internship): $13,595

  • Required Deposit: $895
  • Discounted registration deadline: Enroll by September 10th, 2018 and receive $1,500 off total tuition
  • Early registration deadline: Enroll by November 10th, 2018 and receive $1,000 off total Yoga Therapy tuition
