I'm inspired by the Houston yoga community in general. I'm regularly inspired by the great teachers, students, and the wealth of knowledge available when you speak to them about their practice. My other inspirations are anatomy books, Cat Allen's Poppy Perinatal, and functional patterns and physical therapy exercise clips on IG and youtube.
Why I Practice
I practice to stay connected to my body. I like myself more when I practice a variety of styles of yoga regularly in addition to cycling and weight lifting. My practice helps to keep me honest with myself and keeps my ego in check. My practice has also helped to heal my low back injury (from Crossfit) and move through periods of intense joy and grief and changes with my body. I love that my practice evolves with me and is often the very thing that makes change possible.
Why I Teach
I teach to help my students connect their minds to their bodies in new ways. I really enjoy seeing my students develop their practice, find new space in their bodies, and make the same connections that I find with my body and mind through yoga. I also love to share the knowledge I've accumulated in my own body through trainings I've attended.
