Deepen your understanding of safe movement and refine your practice with this weekend immersion. Learn tools to effectively practice on your own through sequencing techniques, focused alignment and insight into body mechanics. This weekend series is open to dedicated students and teachers interested in developing their self-awareness and knowledge base for personal practice and beyond. Each session will include lecture, breathing techniques and asana practice.
Friday | 7:30-9:30pm | The Art of Sequencing
Smart sequencing is not only important for a class to feel smooth, but also essential for practitioners’ bodies to stay safe. During our time together we’ll talk about how to put together a well-rounded, fluid practice by using skillful sequencing techniques. These techniques can be used for your personal practice, teaching public classes, creating video instruction, working with private clients and more. We’ll also touch on the use of music.
Saturday | 11:30am-1:15pm | Refine Your Practice: Yoga Injury Prevention Tips
In this class we’ll move through a well-rounded practice focused on refining your alignment and injury prevention. Yoga injuries have been on the rise. It’s important to move in a way that minimizes potential injuries and maximizes the longevity of your asana practice.
Saturday | 3:30-5:30pm | Heart, Hips & Core Master Class
Our current way of living tends to foster rounding of the shoulders, slouching of the torso and tight hips due to sitting at a desk or even activities like riding a bike. During this all-levels master class, we’ll gradually flow into deeper and deeper shoulder and hip openers, backbends and core work. We will round out the practice by lengthening the hamstrings and working on balancing postures. You are sure to leave the class feeling very open and strong from head to toe, and skin to bone!
Sunday | 9:30-11:30am | Demystifying Arm Balances
In this workshop-style vinyasa flow class, you will be given step-by-step instructions and specific techniques to safely, and successfully, "take off" in the following arm balances. Each pose will be broken down into three stages, making the class accessible for all levels. We will explore Vasisthasana Variations (Side Plank Pose) Bakasana (Crane Pose), Parsva Bakasana (Side Crane), Astavakrasana (Eight-Angle Pose) and Visvamitrasana (Visvamitra’s Pose). Discover how to create an unshakable foundation, proper set-up for high performance and essential alignment techniques for lift-off. You'll also receive a handout that visually breakdowns each pose so you can continue to practice the progression of these arm balances at home.
Sunday | 2-4pm | Flow & Roll
During the first half the class we’ll move through a total body vinyasa flow that will strengthen, lengthen and awaken your body. We’ll then shift gears by using a ball to rollout popular areas of the body that tend to get overworked and hold a lot of stress. You’ll feel lots of blood flow and tension release! It’s time to flow, roll and let it all go!
