Polyvagal Facilitation (PF) for Inclusion, Compassion & Social Justice (Module 3 in Collective Resilience’s certification sequence) will hone participants’ understanding of attachment theory, the Polyvagal system, systems of privilege & oppression, compassion for self and others, as well as nervous system regulation and how it can be used to cultivate a greater sense of safety for individuals and groups.

Through these lenses, the training will explore barriers to inclusion for specific people & populations - including BIPOC communities, LGBTQIA+ folks, disabled folks, and larger-bodied folks, among others - and how to facilitators can minimize those barriers in their own teaching.

PF covers:

  • Embodied understanding of the Polyvagal system
  • Reading and working with nervous system states in self and students
  • Attachment theory and co-regulation skills
  • Relationship between attachment theory, Polyvagal system, and systemic oppression
  • Yoga philosophy to support inclusion, compassion, and co-regulation
  • Disability justice as a framework for trauma-informed teaching
  • LGBTQIA+ competent language and teaching

Through discussion, lecture, small & large group work, and case studies, participants will learn, explore, and practice specific trauma-informed yoga facilitation tools necessary for creating compassionate, welcoming spaces that break down barriers.

Prerequisites:
This module is open to those who have completed Modules 1 & 2 + a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training, or the equivalent (with the latter to be approved by Collective Resilience).

Module Three is the first of two Facilitation Modules in Collective Resilience’s certification sequence. Unlike the Foundations Modules, which primarily focus on foundational frameworks and broad understanding of concepts, the Facilitation Modules dive deep into the practicalities of facilitating trauma-informed classes, sequences, and spaces.

Ingrained in all Collective Resilience trainings is the understanding that systemic patterns of trauma, privilege, marginalization and oppression (such as poverty, racism, ableism, and homophobia among others) must be addressed in order to cultivate healing for all individuals.
