David Kim

David Kim (500 E-RYT) is a Senior YogaWorks and Yin Yoga Teacher Trainer, who leads trainings, workshops, and yoga events all over the world. A Brown University graduate, David began his career as a New York journalist, and later worked as a Script Analyst for Universal Pictures in Hollywood before embracing full-time yoga teaching. Mentors Paul & Suzee Grilley inspired David’s YogaWise Yin Yoga trainings, and early trainings with Annie Carpenter, Lisa Walford, Sarah Power, Ana Forrest, Jill Miller, and Shiva Rea were key influencers in his Vinyasa teachings. David honors his foundational Krishnamacharya-lineage studies, with the Iyengar family in India (2007) and Ashtanga founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during Jois’s American tour (2005) and continues to explore yoga’s evolutionary frontiers with anatomy trailblazers Gil Hedley, Robert Schleip, and Tom Myers.

David’s thoughtful, challenging classes employ creative sequencing, precise instruction, and a philosophical attitude informed by his Mindfulness meditation practice. One of five original teachers for the video-streaming website, David offers numerous online yoga videos, some of which may be found on and the YogaWorks YouTube channel. David dedicates his teachings to the students and loved ones who inspire and teach him every day. Learn more at

“The deeper you approach the understanding of human nature, let alone your self, the more you realize that this process is endless.”

  • Head of YogaWorks 200 and 300 hours of teacher training programs in Greece, Cyprus and Europe
  • Teacher of prenatal yoga, postnatal yoga, birthlight (yoga for infants) and yoga therapist

Since I remember myself, I’ve always been an adventurous girl, full of ingenuous curiosity and energy. My desire for new experiences led me to California, where I studied with a full scholarship as a basketball at the University of the Pacific College, Stockton, leaving for a few years my birthplace, Greece. After my studies and unfortunately after having suffered numerous injuries, I started to look for something new to replace basketball, and to help my body retreat.

My first yoga lesson was at YogaWorks Main Street studio with Annie Carpenter and it was a love thunder. I immediately became an enthusiastic trainee, following one lesson after another and gaining new experiences. Soon I successfully completed the 200-hour YogaWorks teacher training. There were many more 200 hours of training, workshops, seminars and retreats, as well as an additional 300 hours of therapeutic yoga at the Kripalu Integrative Yoga Therapy Center with Joseph Le Page. Since then, my love for yoga has become stronger.

Life brought me back to Greece, close to my family and loved ones, old and new friends. As a teacher of YogaWorks I am head of the 200 and 300 hours program in Greece, Cyprus and Europe, I teach numerous retreats like “Santorini Loves Yoga” with Iyengar Yoga Junior Intermediate III and participate in similar conferences throughout the world. Every day, I feel grateful and respectful for this beautiful journey of my life, but also enthusiasm for what’s about to come. Learn more at
